Aim: Advancing Obesity Science Across Southeast Asia
The International Bariatric Club (IBC) Malaysia Chapter is the Malaysian chapter of the International Bariatric Club (IBC), a non-profit international academic organisation with educational leadership and activities based in the United States and at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
The chapter is dedicated to advancing obesity science, metabolic health, bariatric and metabolic surgery, endobariatric therapies, pharmacotherapy, and lifestyle-based interventions across the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region.

International Bariatric Club (IBC)
The International Bariatric Club (IBC) is a non-profit American educational organisation with an international academic network that brings together clinicians and researchers in obesity and metabolic health through scientific meetings, global webinars, academic discussions, and collaborative research initiatives.
IBC’s academic activities are based in the United States, with an annual flagship congress held in partnership with the University of Oxford at the Examination Schools, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. This congress serves as a major international educational forum for advancing evidence-based obesity and metabolic care.
As a non-profit organisation, IBC is committed to reinvesting all educational support into training, research dissemination, and accessible academic events.

His involvement with the Malaysian chapter supports scientific alignment with IBC’s internationally recognised academic standards and contributes to the development of ASEAN-focused educational programmes and congresses.

Dato’ Dr Tikfu Gee is a consultant surgeon based at Sunway Medical Centre and Prince Court Medical Centre, Malaysia. He leads the organisation of the IBC Malaysia Congress 2026 in collaboration with the International Bariatric Club.
This collaboration aims to strengthen academic exchange between Malaysia, the ASEAN region, and the wider international IBC community, uphold IBC’s scientific and educational principles, and support the growth of high-quality, non-profit academic programmes and congresses in the region.
